January Decision

Ah January, by far the most boring month of the year (please don't mention I said that to my brother, sorority, or MLK's family).  Think about it.  31 days of cold, gray weather sans holiday decor and spirit...just awful.  So, I think it's only appropriate that I choose a book that I believe will warm my soul.

Enter Charles M. Blow's "Fire Shut Up in My Bones."  I noticed that this book was on several "Best Books of 2014" lists, and since it's a fairly new release (Fall 2014), that's an accomplishment.  According to Amazon, Blow's memoir is "a powerfully redemptive memoir that both fits the tradition of African-American storytelling from the South, and give it an indelible new slant."

Alice Walker, yes the Alice Walker, gives her approval, so I must be headed in the right direction.  May my delightful commentary give you comfort during these 29 (well actually 18 since I have to return it to the library on 1/20) bleak and gray days.

Feel free to read along!  You can find "Fire Shut Up in My Bones" at any bookseller or local library.
