Confessions of a Reneger

I started Audible again.  I know, I know, I created an entire post detailing how I cannot "do" Audible, but to be fair, I also said that if the book found me, I could be persuaded to change my mind.

Which is what happened.

While listening to HRC's book (yes, I'm still listening to it), I researched (note: Googled): "best audiobooks," and came across this helpful article on Salon: http://www.salon.com/2014/12/31/seven_great_audiobooks_from_2014/

At the top of the list is "Invisible Man," by Ralph Ellison and narrated by Joe Morton.  The joining of two legends, people who perfect their craft, made me extremely giddy.

Joe Morton lends his voice to this American classic, and breathes new life into it.  This is how audiobooks should be read.  They should be performed.  And perform he does!   Morton seamlessly matches the tone and voice to Ellison's "Invisible Man," sometimes even shouting at the reader.

He sounds like, dare I say it?  Eli "Rowan" Pope.  As I listen to this book, I hear Pope, and it makes me wonder if Shonda Rhimes didn't get her inspiration for his character from this book.  Although I'm certain that Denzel, Morgan, and James could make Ralph Ellison proud, no one, is as perfect as Joe Morton.  This could not possibly get better.

And then it did.

Do yourselves a favor and take a listen.  Even if you, like me, have read this book before.  I promise that you will not be bored, and perhaps you may even see it from a new perspective.

17 hours, 20 minutes to go.
